Love the way you lie Lyrics

Chorus - Rihanna]
just gonna stand there and watch me burn
that’s alright because i like the way it hurts
just gonna stand there and hear me cry
that’s alright because i love the way you lie
i love the way you lie

[Eminem - Verse 1]
i can’t tell you what it really is
i can only tell you what it feels like
and right now it’s a steel knife in my windpipe
i can’t breathe but i still fight while i can fight
as long as the wrong feels right it’s like i’m in flight
high off of love drunk from my hate
it’s like i’m huffin’ paint and i love it the more i suffer, i suffocate
and right before i’m about to drown, she resuscitates me, she fuckin’ hates me
and i love it, wait, where you goin’?
i’m leavin’ you, no you ain’t come back
we’re runnin’ right back, here we go again
so insane, cause when it’s goin’ good its goin’ great
i’m superman with the wind in his back, she’s Lois Lane
but when its bad its awful, i feel so ashamed i snap
whose that dude? i don’t even know his name
i laid hands on her
i never stoop so low again
i guess i don’t know my own strength

[chorus]

[Eminem - Verse 2]
you ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe
when you with em you meet and neither one of you even know what hit em
got that warm fuzzy feeling
yeah them chills used to get em
now you’re getting fuckin’ sick of lookin’ at em
you swore you’d never hit em, never do nothin’ to hurt em
now you’re in each other’s face spewin’ venom in your words when you spit em
you push pull each other’s hair
scratch claw hit em throw em down pin em
so lost in the moments when you’re in em
it’s the face that’s the culprit, controls ya both,
so they say it’s best to go your seperate ways
guess that they don’t know ya
cause today that was yesterday
yesterday is over, it’s a different day
sound like broken records playin’ over
but you promised her next time you’ll show restraint
you don’t get another chance
life is no nintendo game, but you lied again,
now you get to watch her leave out the window
guess that’s why they call it window pane

[Chorus]

[Eminem - Verse 3]
now i know we said things, did things, that we didn’t mean
and we fall back into the same patterns, same routine
but your temper’s just as bad as mine is, you’re the same as me
when it comes to love you’re just as blinded
baby please come back, it wasn’t you, baby it was me
maybe our relationship isn’t as crazy as it seems
maybe that’s what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
all i know is i love you too much to walk away though
come inside, pick up the bags off the sidewalk
don’t you hear sincerity in my voice when i talk?
told you this is my fault, look me in the eyeball
next time i’m pissed ill aim my fist at the drywall
next time there won’t be no next time
i apologize even though i know its lies
i’m tired of the games i just want her back
i know i’m a liar if she ever tries to fuckin’ leave again
i’ma tie her to the bed and set this house on fire

[chorus]

When i was a youngster Lyrics

"When I Was A Youngster"

I can remember that when I was a little youth I,
Wanted to fly around the world making a new life,
I never thought today, I'd be where I am now,

Yo, wanted to be a fireman,
Than I lost the desire man,
The second I got old enough,
To buy myself a cider can,
Yeah, I was a smart little kid,
That side's departed me since,
These days you can catch me,
Sitting on the bench in the park with a lager and crisps

Back when I was younger,
I wanted to be everything on the planet,
Now that I am older,
It seems the ambition has vanished,
Yeah when I was a youngster,
When I was a, when I was a youngster,
Youngster, when I was a youngster
Yeah, and now that I'm older,
I wish I could've been everything that I wanted,
I'm on it

I think that if I think back back to the days
When I thought I didn't think that,
Nothing that I thought would not be possible,
Ha, try and figure that out,
Back when I didn't know how,
To settle for a desk job bring in those pounds,
I wanted to live in those clouds,
These days I deliver those sounds

I always thought of myself as a simple dreamer,
I never tried too hard but believed it,
Now all of a sudden, it's gone my way

Back when I was younger,
I wanted to be everything on the planet,
Now that I am older,
It seems the ambition has vanished,
Yeah when I was a youngster,
When I was a, when I was a youngster,
Youngster, when I was a youngster
Yeah, and now that I'm older,
I wish I could've been everything that I wanted,
I'm on it

Orignal Idea

Music video Choice - Love the way you lie Artist - Eminem ft Rhianna

The Video is based on a performance, the main performers are Eminem, Rihanna, Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan. There are various locations used in this video such as the field, the burning house and the pub. There are many lighting effects used in this video, where "Eminem" is always viewed in high key lighting this may represent his freedom as he performs in an empty field with the sun shining in the background. However, "Rihanna" is viewed with many close ups as this adds an extra edge to her lip syncing which therefore makes it come accross more real.

However, after some thought we decided to change our music video idea to "When i was a youngster" By "Rizzle Kicks" as we could relate to it more.

Music Video Analysis

Tinie Tempah –Till Im Gone Music Video Analysis

This music video by Tinie Tempah is based on a performance style video and it links into our music video which we are looking to work on. We based our judgement that this video is a performance video mainly for the reason that it takes place in some random place as well as lip synching occurring way too often for it to of a narrative or an art style.

As well as it being a long performance video its also a video which fits into the genre of RnB/Hip Hop considerably well.

Goodwins Analysis

According to Goodwins analysis this particular video by Tinie Tempah is one where the genre is demonstrated in a really great way and demonstrates the stereotypical characteristics of an RnB music video near perfection. The video starts off with a flashy car – an Aston Martin – which seems to be really expensive and gives the audience the feel that this is a video in the RnB/Hip Hop genre and we can immediately tell that its in this genre because everyone knows that, that’s where all the money lies. To live up to the expectation of it being in this specific genre the artist has used a relationship between the lyrics and visuals which could be considered to be quite illustrative at the point where Tinie is mentioning all the different places around the time of 1:35 onwards and the places are shown in the background in sync with when they are mentioned.

Also there are places where we can see a relationship between the music and visuals, the song is called ‘Till Im Gone’ and the video starts off in some unknown place however near the end the video and Tinie himself end up in the city, and during this time the day has changed to night and from this we can see that a relation has been made as he is saying till im gone. In this video and something which is quite unusual to me is that there has been intertextual reference that has been made to another song of the same genre of another artist, Tinie mentions the song ‘I Need A Dollar’ by ‘Aloe Black’

Lighting and Props

The only place where there has been artificial lighting used is where ‘Wiz Khalifa’ the second artist in this video is singing and lip synching the chorus, over here low key lighting is being used to create an effect of not being able to see his face from one side and this suggests that the artist is trying to in a way to stay unknown.

As we know that this music video is of the RnB genre, Tinie has to live up to the expectations of the audience and use props which are considered to be expensive and high end, normally many props are used such as jewerllly however Tinie focuses on one majour prop which is of course the car that he has which really gives the expensive feel to this particular video.

Camera Use and Editing

Most of the video focuses on Tinie Tempah himself so many close ups and medium long shots have been used to make him appear as the most important in this video. Because he is the protagonist in this particular video many extreme close ups and close ups of the actual lips when lip synching occurs occurs and this can be considered to be a main media generic convention for music videos.

As most music videos consist of montage editing this one also lives up to this by the shots jumping from one scene to the next or one shot to the next by the beats and the rhythm of the track.

Analysis

Category – The video is based on a performance but also has characteristics of an art video; the main performers in the video are Tinie Tempah and Labrinth. The performance takes place in a studio; this shows that the artist is trying to add a more edgy feel to the video as he shown in low-key lighting for most of the video. Also choosing a studio to film the video allows him to focus on himself more, as this is his first video he could be trying to illustrate himself more to the public. From the music video we know he is trying to portray himself as a rebel figure.

The artist of this song is Tinie Tempah in which this is the first song he has done, the title of this song is Pass Out and the genre of the music is R n B.

Goodwin’s Analysis: The video we have chosen ‘pass out’ in reference to Goodwin’s analysis, is one, which demonstrates the genre of the song in an excellent way. Even if you were to watch the video for the very first time, you would come to the conclusion that its RnB immediately because of the unique style Tinie Tempah brings and the use of high designer brands and clothes. Also there are certain characteristics Tine Tempah brings to this particular video such as having his hood up at the start of the video ensures us its an RnB however we also start to think it’s a bit ‘gangster like’ which gives us a mixed feel that although its an RnB, It’s a mixed genre which consists of Rap.

In Contrast to many other RnB Genre Type music the particular video we have chosen has very limited relation between the lyrics and visuals. Knowing that this is Tine Tempah’s first debut single, the video focus on him more as an individual than anyone or anything else. On The Other hand and in contrast to what I have just said there was a few times, maybe even several times where every few seconds every now and then his lyrics did match some visual text which could be considered to be shown as an illustrative visual, however just on them times.

The lighting in this video is very simple and effective as throughout the video low key lighting is used to make him stand out and this allows the audience to focus our attention just on him. The spotlight used when the artist emerges from the dark background with his hood on is significant, as he wants to reveal himself in a certain way.

Camera Use – There are lots of camera shots used in this music video. Firstly, there are a lot of close ups of tinie tempah, as he is trying to single himself out to the media, as the main focus is on him hence the black ground in the back as he trying to keep the emphasis on himself.

The camera also slows down, when he is breaking the glass this adds a different effect to the video, this shows his rebel side.

There are a lot of close ups of his mouth, as he emphasis his lyrics through this and makes them feel important. When the music speeds up the camera speed also increases switching between people rapidly.

There are many medium shots showing tinie tempah by himself, there are others in the background, but the main focus is on him. This is due to the fact that he is trying to promote himself more as this is his first video. There are also close ups on the speakers this may represent him also trying to emphasis the music.

Special Effects – In the video we see use of special effects from the start as it shows “Tinie Tempah” with space debris going around his head, he may be suggesting that in this video the world revolves around him, he is trying to single himself out in this video as this is his first music video.

Use of graphics – In the video we see many use of graphics such as the burning of the match sticks, from this he may be trying to show his rebel side, we also see visual words which adds a different edge to the video it emphasis his words a lot more. We also see his glasses change colours which can be linked to “Partying” which links back to his lyrics “pass out”.

Props

Because of the fact that this a video and one which could be considered to be a performance/art style Tinie Tempah had to use specific props and certain costumes to live up to this expectation of people watching or in other words given the people/audience such a video. He has used very stereotypical costumes such as big black dark colored jackets and boots as well as accessories such as sunglasses but not just your standard ordinary ones but ones which have a uniqueness and style of no other, something which is very individual, also the irony of wearing sunglasses and having no sunlight in his video determines the fact that he wanted to show this off. In addition to this one key thing which has been used in this video is the part where we are shown to a ‘Tinie Tempah Chain’ this is a major stereotypical item many RnB artists use to portray the genre and give the feel that such things that can be afforded by them.

The Music Video:

Rizzle Kicks - When I Was A Youngster

Duration:

Approximately 3-4 minutes

Audience:

The audience which we have aimed this particular video by Rizzle Kicks is at teenagers however not the younger teens mainly due to the fact that this video focuses on the kids actually being grown up however reminiscing on the times when they were younger and the things they could have become. We aimed this video at teenagers aged 16 and above because it relates to people everywhere and the things which they use to do to pass time at their childhood years, it appeals to older teenagers in particular rather then teenagers aged between 13-16 because that is considered to be their childhood and taking into consideration the title of the song ‘When I Was A Youngster’ it would not make sense as these teens are in their childhood years. ‘When I Was A Youngster’ is a RnB/Hip Hop style performance/art video and after doing some research on what age groups RnB appeals to we decided on teenagers 16 and above.

Resume:

The two artists in this performance style video have very cleverly named this particular music song which to the audience clearly shows and tells what the song is about. ‘When I Was A Youngster’ is based on Rizzle Kicks childhood and the ambitions they had when they were younger and how some of these ambitions turned to reality and some of these remained dreams. The things which the audience will expect to see is two teenagers reminiscing about the past and just having plain old fun in public locations such as the park without a care in the world about anyone or anything.

Suggested Elements:

The locations we intend to use are locations where you would expect to find kids, places such as water parks and parks where the general public can enter.

Certain costumes are going to be used in this music video to give the audience the feel of Rizzle Kicks reliving their childhood days.

The costumes, which we are going to use in this particular video our costumes aimed and made for little kids however, they are going to be used in our videos to implement the whole feeling of fun.

Recording Days:

The days in which we have decided to produce this video is in the times we actually have our media lesson as well as putting in the work and effort spend the weekend working on it too. In all we are going to spend about 4 days each week for 4 weeks to complete all our filming ready to be edited and completed. We have our media lesson on Monday mornings which lasts for 2 and a half hours and on Thursday afternoons for 2 hours. This time is not going to be spent in college at all however at the locations we have decided to use in our production work and we have all agreed to meet up at these locations to save time which enables us to be efficient in our production work.

The days allotted to this production work is approximately 16 days in which 8 will be full working days and 8 working days. The number of days that are going to be allotted in the post production side and getting this work up to scratch and in a watchable condition would be approximately 8 -10 college days however certain time will be spent on the weekends as well as working on the editing side just in college.

Budget Estimate:

Locations

We have chosen a few locations for our video, firstly there’s Chorlton Water Park. This particular location is suitable to our video as it links to the music video were covering. Also as it is an open space it allows us to film a lot more freely, therefore making the quality of our video a lot better. We also chose this location, as it was close to us all making it easily accessible. It also has great scenery making it a beautiful location to film at. The main part of our video will take place here so it was important to get a great location. However, we will also film part of our video on the street giving it a more urban feel, and our final location is a home.

Planning meeting

The video we are doing is 'When i was a youngster' by the Rizzle kicks which is a music video about childhood ambitions and how those ambitions have changed as they have grown up and regretted not doing them. We chose this video because the lyrics in the video is something that we could relate to as we all had dreams and ambitions when we young of becoming something but have changed as we grown up. Another reason of how we came about choosing the video was that in our group we are all good friends and have known each other from a young age so by us bringing all our ideas of our childhood ambitions etc together we will be able to produce a good video.
