Editing

On the 25th of November we finished our music video. We just had to add a few effects to our video. However, we did encounter a few problems with the software we were using to put our video together(Final Cut Pro). Everytime we tried to playback our video a Alert message would pop up, Stating that frames had dropped.We tried to resolve this problem but the pop up was continuous throughout the video. We decided to just carry on as we were very close to finishing. We added our effects and our video was complete.

Props and Costumes

We did not use alot of props in our video because we felt that due to the nature of the song, it being a upbeat music video this allowed the actors to be full of energy which has shown through well in the video. One of the props that we used was a water gun which complemented the water fight scene at the end of the video, this particular scene went well with the video because we had a little kid in the scene this brought out the fun factor even more in the video. We decide to this scene because alot of kids these days have water fights so it worked out well with the video.

In terms of props we got Ather to wear a shirt and tie and sit behind the desk, this we decided to do this because it went with some of the lyrics of the song 'To settle for a desk job bring in those pounds'. We also got Ather to wear a cap in this scene because we wanted the audience to see that he has a job but at the same time they can see that by him wearing a cap he still wants to be a youngster.

Daily Update

On Thursday the 24th of November, we started the day by carrying on with our editing as we still had half of the video to put together. However, at first there was a problem exporting the footage we had on our mobile to the PC. Once the problem was sorted we exported the footage and started editing it to fit with the video. We again used all the time we were given and stayed till 6.30 were we had pretty much finished off our video, the next day would be used to just touch up our video e.g. cut out the gaps.

Daily Update

On Wednesday the 23rd of November we added our new footage to our timeline, however at the time we decided to start our video from scratch as it was much easier to add all our footage together, we also wanted it to be in sync with the music. We decided to use the extra time we were given to our advantage and stayed till 6pm to put our video together. We had put together half of the video leaving half for the following days.

Filming Update

On the 18th of November we took a change from our primary location which was the park and filmed in a house (shanes house) as the lyrics were about having and working in a desk job. To do this we got 'Ather' to dress smart which is a typical dress code for people who work behind desks in offices have a smart appearence, so for 'Ather' wearing a shirt and tie and sitting behind a desk this looked more proffessional and will allow the audience to understand why he is dressed in this particular way. As the song we chose is upbeat and energetic, to have them aspects in our video we decided to use the trampoline and because the video is about being a youngster by jumping on a trampoline is something that youngsters do these days. This scene allows the audience to see the fun that the actors are having and what it was like when they were youngsters, so this scene has helped to make it look more upbeat and energetic.

Filming update

On Monday the 21st of November we decided to film our final scene, it was at Longford park and the scene was the water gun fight. As Lighting was starting to fade due to the weather we worked fast but also keeping our video's quality up to standard. We had planned the day before so we went straight into it. There were a few problems, involving the camera. The camera's battery had died leaving us with no camera to use. However, we decided to use our mobile's camera which was of the same quality. Once we had sufficient footage we moved on to editing it.

Daily Update

"18th November" Today we decided to film at "Shane's house" as we wanted to have a variety of locations. We started off by filming a scene which involved "Ather" dressing smart. Myself and Shane provided a shirt and tie to make my Attire look more professional. We took many shots including many close ups. Once that specific scene was finished we moved on to a different scene, which involved me and "Sohail" Lip Synching the main Course we also tried adding as much energy and fun into the Course as this was something we discussed with our teacher.

"17th November" We started off by filming in a local park close to Loreto college, we took many types of shots and had alot more variety in our filming this was something which was discussed with our teacher before hand. After our filming we decided to go back to college to start putting our video together. We decided just too put what we had on the timeline as we could see what we had to work with making it easier to edit later on.

"16th November" Our plan for the start of the day was to film at the local fire station, However we ran into a few problems as filming with the fire crews uniform on was not allowed. We came to the agreement that we could film on another day once they had contacted loreto college. After that we went to "Ather's" house and started filming there we took various shots such as playing on the playstation Etc. As we had enough footage from that location we decided to move on.

Filming Update

From the 9th of November to the 13th me and my team members got together to get some filming done. We used different parks for our footage such as Chorlton water park which was our primary location, Longford park and Hullard park. During this time we used various parts of the park to do our filming which included lip synching, and acting. During some of these days we were filming we encountered a major problem which was the weather, it rained quite alot during the day which resulted us not being able to film for them days which meant we lost valuable time. We tackled this probelm by working extra hard on the days that were dry by getting on with the filming and not wasting time.

Daily Update

We began the lesson by adding our footage to final cut pro, our video was starting to come together. We than decided to start editing the video, adding in Effects such as Dissolve to make our video look more professional. However after some thought we decided to change an aspect of our music video as we didn't think it went with what we first planned.

On the 14th November me myself as well as the other members of the group spent our morning lesson getting all the footage we have captured over the last few weeks together and decided to do an assembled edit rather than putting the footage bit by bit , an assembled edit is something which we was keen on doing as we can see the flow of our music video and get a brief idea on what bits could be cut out and the bits where effects and edits needed to be used. As some of us already had knowledge of using final cut pro in the previous work we had done last year for AS Media very little time was wasted as we could crack on and start working towards perfecting the footage and guiding the footage we had towards completion. We made a start on the editing side of the music video however a lot of work stills needs to be added to complete it

Daily Update

On the 8th of November we started putting out footage which we had recorded . I had to familiarize my shelve with final cut pro again as i hadn't used it for a while however after some practice i got the hang of it again. We than started adding our clips and sounds to final cut pro. We hope to have more Footage by next lesson.

Filming

We Started filming on the 4th of november. We chose Chorlton Water Park as it was one of our primary locations. We had lots of footage as we could always delete what we didnt need. There were a few problems with the stand however which meant we had to film Handheld. After Suffient filming the weather turned goolmy and as there wasnt enough light we stopped.
